Versailles Restaurants and Versailles Dining
(Versailles, Ile-de-France, France, FR)
There are a number of restaurants to note dotted around the city of Versailles. However, since many people come here just as a day trip from Paris, to visit the Château de Versailles, it is often easier to simply eat within the palace itself.
The main dining venues in the Palace of Versailles include a pleasant cafe close to the Cour de la Chapelle, along with two relaxed restaurants, named La Petite Venise and La Flotille, which are close to the canal itself. Of course, on a sunny day the palace grounds really do lend themselves to picnicking and visitors are permitted to bring their own food and picnic on the lawns, or around areas of the gardens. Affordable snack food is also available at a number of kiosks, particularly around the palace's Bosquet de la Girandole and Grand Trianon areas.
Versailles Restaurants and Dining: Where to Eat - Versailles, France, FR
Within Versailles itself, a number of restaurants offer a pleasant dining experience and are clustered within the Quartier Saint-Louis and the historic centre. These eateries are to be found along stretches such as the Rue de Satory and the Rue du Vieux Versailles, where Creperie St. Louis is particularly popular and famed for its sweet and savoury crepes.
The cuisine of south-western France is on offer at a number of restaurants here, such as the A La Ferme on the Rue du Maréchal Joffre, which is known for its tasty grilled meats at highly affordable prices.
Self caterers staying in Versailles will be pleased to find a large outdoor food market, which takes place on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, on the Place du Marché Notre Dame, close to the tourist office.
Various food halls surround the marketplace and provide an array of dining options, while the neighbouring Monoprix department store boasts its very own supermarket and is situated on the Rue Georges Clemenceau.
