Photo of tourists heading to the PalaceMany people visiting the Palace of Versailles (Château de Versailles) choose to base themselves within Paris itself, so that they can visit the many attractions that the city has to offer and take full advantage of the undeniable Parisian atmosphere. Whilst Paris has an enormous selection of accommodation at all levels, there are a number of hotels within Versailles itself, which offer a high standard of lodging in quieter surroundings.

Most hotels in Versailles are not particularly cheaper, but they do offer an excellent standard of accommodation and are a good place to base yourself, whether you wish to explore the palace, the city itself, or nearby Paris.

Where to Stay

The historic quarter is where a number of hotels and inns are based, particularly around the Rue du Vieux-Versailles, the Rue de Satory and also the Rue d'Anjou, where the Atel La Residence Du Berry Hotel resides. There is also a choice of accommodation to be found within the Quartier Saint-Louis.

The most popular lodging options are just a matter of minutes from the château itself and the most notable of these include the aptly named Le Versailles Hotel on the Rue Sainte Anne (Petite Place), and the Pullman Versailles Château Ex-Sofitel on the Bis Avenue de Paris, which is actually based within the former royal stables. Also close by is the Mercure Versailles Château on the Rue Ph De Dangeau, the Ibis Paris Chateau De Versailles Hotel on the Avenue de General de Gaulle, and the Trianon Palace Versailles, which is actually adjacent to the palace and a mere 16 km / 10 miles from Paris Orly International Airport.
